Ultimate Unique Engagement Ring: Custom Order Tips from Julia
I've always said I have been so fortunate to have best customers to work with. When it comes to create something so special like custom marriage bands and engagement rings, it gets so personal. When I was asked to make this engagement ring for Julia, we've exchanged numerous emails to get down the ideas and decide on details. And like I said I have BEST customers to work with, Julia and Cooper were not exception. Not only they were kind enough to give me creative freedom to make their engagement ring, allowed me to witness their proposal with the ring, but also took time to answered all the questions for ring shoppers! Q1: Did you have any concerns purchasing something special like an engagement ring thru online? What made you decide my brand over something like big name brands that have stores all over the world?
Cooper:
Julia: I have always wanted a ring that is as unique as a finger print. I have always loved original and unusual designs that when I found your brand I fell in love with the texture of each piece and the fluidity of how you shaped the rings to fit each gem. When searching for a custom jeweler in Japan (specifically in Osaka), I had some concerns about big corporations. It was hard to navigate their pages and terms and conditions. Ultimately, I wanted to talk to a designer who could take us through the entire process with ease and make a connection with us. I didn't want to be talking to a massive corporation. I wanted to support a smaller businesses.
Q2: What made you pick a raw diamond instead of faceted one?
J: Initially I did want a faceted diamond but when I saw the design I sent to Rie I feel in love with the raw stone that was presented. Again I wanted something raw and real. choosing the raw diamond over the faceted just felt right and represents our relationship so well.
Q3: I know we did everything by emails. How was the design process and throughout the whole experience of creating a custom engagement ring? Was there anything that was helpful or perhaps could've been improved?
J: Honestly the design process was simple and easy. We as a couple aren't fussy people when it comes to jewelry. And this was our first time designing a ring and going through this process. from your first email you were warm, welcoming and professional which made us very comfortable leaving you with the ring's design process. we trusted your judgement and absolutely love the end result. What was helpful was the quick responses, the detailed photos, the suggestions for the ring and for us to go and get my ring sized at another jeweler in Australia. We loved that we were shown the design, casting and close to final product throughout our experience. I also loved that I was able to add and change a few things throughout. The 4 different coloured sapphires was a last minute choice which I love that I was able to add with no fuss.
Q4: I always send the images or videos of the final product to check with clients. How was it seeing the ring for the first time in person?
J: I wont lie it was incredible daunting. We understood that this was going to be the case. that we wouldn't see the ring until we traveled to Japan. It felt like we were so close yet so far. We loved the design and the final results but seeing the ring through images and videos was tough for us to thoroughly see. We just trusted the process and was excited to see the ring in person. When we saw it we fell in love straight away.
Q5: Any advice for couples who are seeking for a custom engagement ring?
J: Trust your instincts when choosing a jeweler and trust their craft. Rie was just perfect for us as a couple. She heard our requests and was happy to accommodate our tastes whilst also providing her creative flare.
Q6: Your engagement ring is featured in Vanity Fair. Have you told anyone about it? How do you feel to see your engagement ring on the magazine?
J: We have told everyone! Honestly we are blown away that our beautiful custom ring is featured in a leading fashion magazine. We couldn't believe it when Rie told us the News that the ring would be featured. We feel so privilege and lucky to be apart of something so special and we thank Rie from the bottom of our hearts for making this beautiful piece come to life!
